Monday, September 23, 2024

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that two schools in the District of Columbia have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024 by the U.S. Department of Education: DC Bilingual Public Charter School and Payne Elementary School. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Payne Elementary and DC Bilingual School on being named National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024,” said Mayor Bowser. “We know that our public schools are a bright spot in the story of DC, and we celebrate these schools for their outstanding achievements and for earning this prestigious recognition – a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, students, families, and their entire school communities.”

The District’s schools are among 356 schools across the country recognized as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Photographs and brief descriptions of the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are available at nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov/
